Why do we ask for donations as small as $1.00?
When Soccer For A Cure was launched in 2008, our focus was to pursue donations of $5.00 and under.
- Non-profits could not exist without donors like you.
- We know that there are many well deserving non-profit organizations that help
families in need as often as resources allow, as is the case of
Soccer For A Cure.
- We believe that asking for small donations
gives everyone at every economic level the opportunity to more
easily become involved in supporting multiple organizations.
-
We also know that it isn't easy to convince people that a $1.00 to $5.00 donation
is not a waste of their time and that every $1.00 to $5.00 doation WILL make a difference.
We'll be contacting as many potential donors as possible during the month of September through
the end of 2014 with the hopes that
at least 2,500 or more will take the time to make a donation
and consider it a Random Act of Kindness.
Without your help we cannot meet our goal of 2,500 donors by the end of 2014.
Please help us meet that goal
by making a donation and then encouraging your friends and
family to make a donation as well.
If you have any doubt that a donation of $1.00, $2.00 .. up to $5.00
is a waste of your time and will not make any difference to families with a child
battling cancer,
that simply is NOT TRUE.

We certainly welcome donations of any amount.
Although our enphasis has always been on encouraging donors to make small donations,
anyone wishing to make donations of $10.00 or more is like winning the lottery
for Soccer For A Cure.
Our goal is not to raise a certain amount of money
but is instead to have 2,500 donations by the end of the year.
As mentioned already, convincing everyone that a $1.00 to $5.00 donation when bundled
with 2,499 additional donations will be "Priceless" to families
with children battling cancer at Alabama Children's Hospital.
A True Story that illustrates how several small donations can make a difference
One morning last September, I arrived at Children's of Alabama about an hour earlier than a scheduled
meeting with hospital staff to discuss the 6th UAB Soccer For A Cure Classic.
I decided to get breakfast in the hospital cafeteria.
As I was finishing my breakfast, I noticed a man that seemed to be in distress as he fumbled to pay
for the breakfasts he ordered to take to his child's hospital room.
The coupons he had to pay for his breakfasts had expired and he didn't have any cash on him.
I was able to resolve the problem by offering to pay for his breakfast.
Only a few dollars out of my pocket but a huge timely help to that family.
This short story shows what Soccer For A Cure is about.
Every dollar donated has value to those in need when it is combined with small donations from friends and family members.
Please help us help the families with children in treatment at Alabama Children's Hospital by making a donation
in any amount.
